Oregon is a refuge for all, a top welcoming and inclusive destination for travelers from all walks of life. Comprised of seven tourism regions, you can visit the Coast (363 miles of public coastline) in the same day as Portland, Willamette Valley wine country and snowcapped Mt. Hood. Those looking to get off the beaten path may venture into the high desert of Central, Eastern or Southern Oregon, where you'll find plenty of hot springs, pristine dark skies for stargazing, Scenic Byways and Scenic Bikeways as well as loads of options for car-free travel. Each region's landscape and vibe is vibrant, distinct and authentic in its own way, with world-class hotels, restaurants, distilleries, dog-friendly brewpubs, outdoor adventures and cultural attractions for every type of traveler.
Destination: Portland
Website: https://www.travelportland.com/

Oregon is a refuge for all, and Portland is a hub for queer life on the West Coast, second only to San Francisco for the percentage of LGBTQ+ residents. Since the 1970s, it has been a safe place that’s anchored the LGBTQ+ community beyond the reach of any LGBTQ+ bar. Darcelle XV in downtown Portland is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its role in gaining acceptance for drag and gay rights. After Walter Cole (aka Darcelle, the nation’s most famous drag queen) died in 2023, a small park and fountain in Portland is now known as Darcelle XV Plaza. You can find Pride-Certified hotels, queer-owned tour companies and organizations that seek to celebrate pride, inclusivity and a love of the outdoors with various year-round events. The largest is Portland Pride each July, a waterfront festival featuring a drag show by Portland’s own Jinkx Monsoon, an entertainer with two “RuPaul’s Drag Race” crowns and a starring role in the Broadway musical “Chicago.” There’s also a parade that draws thousands of celebrants and allies.
Destination: Bend
Website: https://visitbend.com/
Social Media: @visitbend
Oregon’s reputation as a diverse and queer-friendly state extends to many communities like Bend, an outdoorsy haven in the Central Oregon high desert, 3.5 hours southeast of Portland with its own convenient airport hub, Redmond Municipal Airport. In addition to being a hot spot for hikers, cyclists, paddlers, fly-fishers and nature lovers of all stripes, Bend is home to the Winter Pride Fest each March, a growing celebration at Mt. Bachelor that brings the LGBTQ+ community and allies together for a weekend packed with drag performances, DJs, comedy, bingo, nightlife and more events across Bend and beyond. The event is designed to celebrate pride in the heart of winter, with ticket bundles, hotel deals and Mt. Bachelor discounts available. Bend's Summer Pride festival, meanwhile, is a laid-back affair that features an afternoon of music, food and mingling at downtown’s verdant Drake Park, which sits along Mirror Pond. Join the early 3K fun run/walk before the Pride festival kicks off. Also in the region, visitors can find a number of queer-owned hotels, guide services, restaurants, bars and more.
Destination: McMinnville
Website: https://visitmcminnville.com/
Social Media: @visitmcminnville
In the North Willamette Valley just southwest of Portland, McMinnville is an artsy enclave filled with cozy boutique hotels, wine bars and James Beard Award-winning restaurants. Just down the road in Dayton, another wine-centric town, the Queer Wine Fest is held each year at Remy Wines, led by winery owner Remy Drabkin, who is also the town's openly queer former mayor. The outdoor festival includes wine and food tasting with live music, featuring queer-owned, -made and -grown wines. It's just part of the monthly Rainbow Quest each June, an inclusive celebration of the LGBTQ+ community in the Willamette Valley, with dozens of local coffee shops, wineries, restaurants, bars and retailers offering Pride-inspired drinks, food and products.
Destination: Hood River
Website: https://visithoodriver.com/

A friendly yet sophisticated city with an active LGBTQ community, Hood River launched its first Pride Celebration nearly a decade ago and makes a charming getaway for touring wineries and orchards, hiking in the Columbia River Gorge or playing amid the snowcapped slopes of Mt. Hood. Queer-friendly eateries and hotels abound, including the historic Hood River Hotel and brand-new Lightwell Hotel & Spa, with a rooftop bar, restaurant, indoor soaking pool, saunas and massage services. You can also gear up for easy outdoor recreation at the hotel's Adventure Lounge, a hub for queer-owned First Nature Tours, which leads sustainably-minded guided visitor experiences like truffle hunting, wine tasting, snowshoeing and custom-curated trips across the region. Hood River hosts an annual Winter Pride Fest in March and goes all out for the summer version with a parade that kicks off in June during monthly First Friday festivities like drag bingo and drag brunches.
Destination: Ashland
Website: https://travelashland.com/

Home to the celebrated Oregon Shakespeare Festival as well as Southern Oregon University, this vibrant city is a favorite getaway for culture seekers, foodies and outdoor enthusiasts. Downtown abounds with lively restaurants and bars, and the city is host to Rogue Valley Pride, set in downtown’s picturesque Lithia Park each October. Local LGBTQ-friendly breweries, coffee roasters, restaurants and hotels offer lovely hospitality, farm-to-table cuisine and impressive wine lists showcasing the bounty of local farms and vineyards. Pride events happen all year long, from the Ashland Pride Parade in October to a Pride Ride for cyclists and runners in June, plus community events like Dungeons and Drag Queens, Art Out Loud art shows, diva drag brunches and more.
